Goiânia – A man was arrested on suspicion of raping his stepdaughters aged 6, 9 and 11, in Itapirapuã, in the west of Goiás. The case was discovered after one of the children reported the abuse to the school. According to the Civil Police, the girls’ mother was also arrested, for omitting the crimes, as one of the daughters had already told her about the abuse.
The couple’s arrest took place on Wednesday morning (20/9), on the farm where the family lives. To the police, the stepfather denied the crime, however, the children’s mother confessed that she knew about the cases. She said she regrets the omission.
According to the delegate responsible for the case, Kleber Leandro Toleto Rodrigues, the mother said in her statement that she feared her partner’s arrest because he provided for the household, and without him, they would be without financial means.
According to those investigated, last week, the 6-year-old child was crying a lot and asked to talk to the school psychologist, that’s when she told him she was being abused. One of the sisters, aged 11, has cognitive impairment and moderate mental retardation.
With authorization from the Court, the police seized the couple’s cell phones, and on the mother’s device there were messages from her asking him to stop abusing her daughters. In addition to pornographic material that was found on the stepfather’s cell phone.
The children were welcomed by the city’s Guardianship Council and underwent expert examinations at the Legal Medical Institute (IML).
